PRESS RELEASE



The Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified the scheme exempting salaried taxpayers with total income up to Rs.5 lakh from filing income tax return for assessment year 2011-12, which will he due on July 31,2011.

Individuals having total income up to Rs.5,00,000 for FY 2010-11, after allowable deductions, consisting of salary from a single employer and interest income from deposits in a saving bank account up to Rs.10,000 are not required to file their income tax return. Such individuals must report their Permanent Account Number (PAN) and the entire income from bank interest to their employer, pay the entire tax by way of deduction of tax at source, and obtain a certificate of tax deduction in Form No.16.

Persons receiving salary from more than one employer, having income from sources other than salary and interest income from a savings bank account, or having refund claims shall not be covered under the scheme.

The scheme shall also not be applicable in cases wherein notices are issued for filing the income tax return under section 142(1) or section 148 or section 153A or section 153C of the Income Tax Act 1961.

New Delhi, the 3rd June, 2011

S.O.1295(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (23AAA) of Section 10 of the Income-tax Act, 1961(43 of 1961), the Central Board of Direct Taxes hereby makes the following amendments in the notification of Government of India, Ministry of Finance, number S.O. 672(E) dated the 27th July, 1995, namely :—

in the said notification, in paragraph (1), after clause (c), the following clause shall be inserted, namely :—

(d) to meet the cost of annual medical tests or medical checkups of the member, his spouse and dependent children.

JCTU Meeting

The Karnataka State Joint Council of Trade Unions met at CITU office Bangalore on 16/6/11,

The following decisions have taken place.

a) To demonstrate against price rise especially rise in petrol prices
b) To hold press conference on 21st June at Press club at 11.30 am
c) To hold Rally on 23rd June 2011 at GPO at 11 am against price rise
d) JCTU meeting extended solidarity with Postal and Bank employees for there Strike in July.

All Comrades are requested to attend the Rally on 23rd June 2011 at GPO at 11 am

COC Meeting Minutes

COC meeting held on Friday the 10th June 2011 at 6.00 pm at City RMS Bangalore under the Chairmanship of Com Muthkumar .

The Meeting was attended by representatives of following organisations

NFPE(P3,P4,Postal Accounts, RMS) ITEF, Central Excise Survey of India, Ground Water, CGHS, G.S.I,Ground Water & Loco Running staff.

Com P.S.Prasad General Secretary welcomed the members and Com KKN.Kutty Secretary General Confederation of C.G. Employees and Workers New Delhi for this meeting, He informed members that from 5th July Postal Employees will be on strike, All Affiliates of COC should render their solidarity with Postal Employees and it is an Important strike for entire C.G.Employees.

Thereafter Com KKN.Kutty Secretary General Confederation of C.G. Employees and Workers New Delhi. addressed the meeting He stressed the importance of Postal Employees strike in detail, This is an move by the Govt. to close down the Govt Department's in a phased maner, Now there is an attack on RMS and Post Offices Closure, after some time it may be on other Govt. Departments, Hence he urged that all Affiliate's of Confederation should actively participate in the strike, By holding the Dharna and Rally programs which a detail circular will be sent.

The informed the members that Confederation will extend its support to the postal strike. The House passed a resolution extending support for Postal Strike.

He also made emphasis on the need of 7th CPC constitution.

Chairman of the meeting Com Muthukumar he informed members that Postal Strike is an important strike and at this movement of CG employees of Karnataka we are fortunate to have Com KKN. Kutty at Bangalore, we should follow his advise on strike

The meeting also filled up two vacant posts of Officers

a) Com M.R.Srinivas as Asst Secretary representing CGHS

b) Com Dominic as Asst Finance Secretary

The House approved also three Adviser for COC

a) Com Muthukumar

b) Com Neelappa

c) Com Nagendra

The Meeting ended with a Vote of thanks by Com P.S.Prasad
